So I was watching a couple videos of my friends dancing on youtube and I saw a very discouraging thing that I think is becoming a problem. Hateful comments.
All of a sudden, everyone is a critic on youtube. And we’re all guilty of it. I’m sure I’ve even laughed at someone falling off a table in a video on youtube. But please remember that these dancers who put up videos are doing it not only for free, but for your enjoyment and the least you can do is be grateful.
If you don’t like someone’s choreography, then don’t watch their videos; Don’t sit their typing that this is the worst thing you’ve ever seen. If you feel compelled to comment, then make sure it is constructive and coming from a good place. Dancers should be supportive of their COMMUNITY. That’s why it’s called a dance community.
And if you are a dancer who has the courage to post up your stuff online, I applaud you. I even get scared to put my choreography out there still because I don’t know what people are going to say. It’s the support I get from people, friends and fans that always keeps me pushing. Everyone else deserves the same. :)
Merry Christmas & Happy New Year.
